Offender Background Checks

Visitu runs an instant sex offender background check for all visitors and notifies selected administration via email and SMS when an offender alert occurs.

Protect those that matter most!

With over 750,000 registered sex offenders in the United States, all visitors who enter your school should be checked against the National Sex Offender Registry database. Visitu automatically and instantly scans and compares all visitor information against offender database records at every sign-in.

Enable Background Check

If you would like to run a sex offender background check for all visitors against the National Sex Offender Registry Database you can enable the Offender Check. We highly recommend all schools enable this feature to protect their students and staff from unknown registered sex offenders visiting their school.

To enable running a sex offender background check on all visitors during the sign in process, follow the steps below:

STEP 1:  Open a Web browser from your computer. We highly recommend using Google Chrome.

STEP 2: Navigate to the Visitu Web Dashboard: https://app.visitu.co

STEP 3: Login to Visitu with your credentials.

STEP 4: From the top nav menu, click Configuration.

STEP 5: From the left menu, click Offender Background Checks.

STEP 6: Toggle the Offender Background Checks button to YES.

STEP 7: Enter the email addresses you would like to receive possible offender alerts.

STEP 8: Enter any SMS numbers you would like to receive possible offender alerts.

Offender Alert Email

You have the ability to notify individual staff members, employees, etc. on your campus via email when their is a possible sex offender alert notification. The people that need to be contacted are usually Principals, Head of Schools, Resource/Security Officers, etc. Most schools will create one email address or specify a group of people that need to be notified specifically for this alert. Please note that we use CSV file formatting, so each different email will need to be separated by a comma with no spaces in between. Example: offenderalert@yourschool.com,anotheremail@yourschool.com,anotheremail@yourschool.com

Offender Alert SMS (Text) Notification

We know that administration and security personnel don't always have access to their email right away; because of this, you have the ability to notify individual staff, employees, etc. on your campus via SMS (text) when there is a possible sex offender alert notification. The people that need to be contacted are usually Principals, Head of Schools, Resource/Security Officers, etc. Because we use CSV formatting, please make sure to add SMS (text) numbers to the specified field in the correct format. Example: 813-555-1212,123-456-7890,987-654-3210
